Macquarie Textiles, Albury

The project was developed by Macquarie Textiles to card, spin and weave woollen fabrics.

Construction began in March 2003 and was completed by mid November of that year.  Site preparation required cut and fill seven metres deep, all completed prior to structural steel construction.  There was extensive formwork required to carding machine pits in order to access four machines, each 45 metres long, 3.5 metres wide and 2.5 metres deep.

Underground tunnels 2 metres deep and 250 metres in length were constructed to assist in keeping air at temperate levels.  The size of the building's factory floor was 20,000 square metres, with the largest internal building 80 metres wide with two rows of columns spanning 18 metres.  The roof and walls were insulated with 'Bondor' panel cladding.  Concrete tilt panels were used extensively between buildings for fire isolation.

The total project value was $10.3 million and took only 38 weeks to complete, from the letter of intent to handover.
